This elegant, contemporary house features pavilion style roofing which seems almost invisible. The anthracite ceramic roof tiles are just visible above the horizontal eaves which emerge imposingly from the geometric volume of the house and are characterized by an intense gray colour. The same tonality is repeated on the entrance extention, staircase and balcony and were deliberately highlighted in order to create a playful game of chiaro scuro. A terrace was created above the living room and is accessible from the landing which services the sleeping area.
The house celebrates open plan living which gives a dynamic distribution to the spaces. Lighting is a key feature with adjustable recessed spotlights and luminous LEDs used in key areas which flood the rooms with their visual effects.
The stairs leading to the sleeping quarters are not simply a functional link between two floors. Built-in staircase planters transforms the passageway into a green oasis. The flue and electrical duct was created over a double volume and turned into focal point.
High quality building materials were used along with the best insulation techniques leading to significant energy savings and excellent interior comfort in all seasons.

The architecture is characterized by very sharp lines and defined volumes. The double story portion houses the living room and kitchen downstairs and bedrooms upstairs while the remainder of the ground level is made up of multi-functional rooms.
The characteristic elements of the composition are the flat roof that slices through the horizontal planes of the structure with its sharp-edged eaves. These overhangs are made of modular, prefabricated angular concrete slabs characterized by a finish that resembles wooden boards which gives them a sophisticated effect.
The flat roof of the single story has been designed to accommodate a roof garden in the future. This would further enhance the thermal and acoustic insulation properties of the house ensuring less heat loss in Winter and maintaining a cool temperature in the Summer.
An open floor plan was implemented for the entrance hall, living room, kitchen and stairwell giving a dynamic distribution to the internal spaces. The metallic-grey steel staircase is characterized by a zig zag support framework and adds value to the interior. A centrally placed double-sided fireplace provides excellent heat distribution on all levels. An exposed stainless steel flue pipe cuts through the ceiling and extends right through the double volume and in doing so, transforms itself from a mere diffuser of heat into a design statement.

CAM Private House

The vacant plot was considered to be situated in an historical zone but was also part of an expanding urban area. Municipal constraints dictated that the design of the house had to follow that of traditional country-style homes. The client brief however, was for a thoroughly modern, contemporary home. The result had to satisfy the desires of the client and meet the stringent building implementation rules. All the traditional characteristics and prerequisites were respected while using modern interpretations. The selection of the materials and design dictates played an import role in the evolution of the project.
The precise geometry, almost obsessively repetitive, is the underlying theme of the design, with the exception of a few details which give the house a modern feel. The classic roof has a wooden framework with four pitches, the windows were perfectly aligned and rectangular in shape and purposely arranged in this unusual way. The large living room and bedroom windows are nothing more than the imitation of old doorways.
The window aren’t the traditional stones ones but were simply painted to resemble them. The same applies to the roof covering – although traditional tiles were used, the colour choice is an unusual anthracite. The gutters, drain pipes and railings have been manufactured in stainless steel instead of the traditional copper. In order to minimize the impact of the imposing volume that is the house, it was decided to use a light shade of paint on the walls.

FLO Private House

The villa is located on flat piece of land situated on top of a hill and boasts 360˚ panoramic views of the Carniche Alps and the rolling plains. This magnificent location dictated both the shape as well as the architectural design of this imposing home. The house was built facing south with large windows which characterize the property.
The main body has a very solid form and is flanked by vertical extensions. The garages extend out from the back of the house with a low, sharp profile and are covered by a flat roof. Viewed from the side the structure is tall and imposing. The unique shape of the roof which slopes down towards the back of the house is wider at the front and tapers towards the back. It consists of a laminated wood which has been shaped to coincide with the design and covered with Rheinzink – a maintenance-free, durable, sustainable titanium-zinc metal roofing material.
The interior layout is very functional and gives the owners the option of selecting a partial or total occupation of the house, depending on the number of guests they are hosting. The ground floor has been set up as a large apartment that can comfortably accommodate a family. The upper floor has additional bedrooms and a bathroom that can be used when the occasion calls for it. The finishes are neutral but striking. Many of the walls in both the bedrooms and passages are invisible built-in cupboards, masked by modern boiserie panels.

F+F Private House

The house sits right on the center of the lot and basically takes it shape. It opens up to a west-facing external patio that gets lots of sun and tapers toward the north side. Along the west side, the walls run parallel to the property’s boundary line after a small recess to accommodate the main entrance. The roof complements these lines and is emphasized with a sharp zig-zag pattern.
The brief was to create all the living spaces for this young family on a single story with large open spaces that would lead directly to the garden following a simple yet functional layout. The upstairs section was a separate design project, conceived as a fully functional independent unit for use sometime in the future.
The house was used as a case study in which properties are awarded an energy classification status – Classificazione Energetica Ambientale VEA. The completion stages of the villa coincided with the architects’ attendance at a course organized by the Regional Agency for Sustainable Construction in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, ARES.
