LOT SIZE
18000 m²
TOTAL VOLUME
1800 m³
Landscape Constraints under Legislative Decree no. 42 of 2004 art. 142 paragraph 1 point c) and b)
This project necessitated the design and construction of a large storage space to be used by an agricultural company, which among other activities, breeds various types of deer. A colony of approximately 70 head of deer, including adults and young, are housed in a large fenced area near this building.
It is situated in a hillside area, where gentle hills and valleys alternate in a slow rhythm before reaching the small lake of Ponte della Pietra, a natural haven for many species of local birds. As this is protected land, the structure was located behind a hillock in a dip so as to conceal it from view. To prevent landslides, an embankment made of large natural rocks was constructed and grass was planted in the gaps to make it blend in with the environment.
Indigenous trees and shrubs already present in the area were used to help lessen the impact of the construction on its surroundings.
The structure’s shape and construction materials were carefully selected in order to respect the ambient. A fundamental part of the project was to maintain a harmonious relationship between man and nature. This area is not only inhabited by the animals that are bred on the property but also by small wild animals and flocks of diverse birds.
